WHMIS
WHMIS is a four hour course which will provide workers with the information needed to protect themselves and others around them from poisonous materials (controlled products) that are found in the workplace.
We pride ourselves on our interactive courses which insure that the students gain understanding and experience.
Upon completion, the students will be awarded with a WHMIS ticket that meets the standard of WorkSafe BC and BC Forest Safety Council.
The Transportation of Dangerous Goods course is 4 hours long and is required before handling, offering for transport, transporting or importing dangerous goods or directing others to do the same. Each person must hold a valid certificate of training or be working under the direct supervision of someone who holds a valid certificate. Certificates are valid for 3 years.
H2S
Hydrogen sulphide, or H2S is a naturally occurring toxic gas found primarily in the petroleum and pulp industry. It is colourless, heavier than air and is extremely toxic. In low concentrations, it has a rotten egg smell but in higher concentrations it can deaden your sense of smell and causes death. For these reasons, training in how to protect your self is crucial in any industry where H2S might be encountered. In this eight hour course, you will learn about the toxic effects of H2S and how to protect yourself from them. The use of a Self Contained Breathing Apparatus [SCBA] will be taught as well as rescue techniques and CPR.
Artificial Defibrillator training
It has been proven that the use of artificial distributors coupled with good-quality CPR has increased the survival rate of patients suffering from cardiac arrest dramatically. For this reason, many locations, such as airports and shopping malls, have artificial defibrillators are mounted next to fire extinguishers.
This is a four-hour course that will prepare you for the use of the AED in the workplace and recreational areas. Subjects covered are safety of user and patient, protocols for use, CPR training, placement of pads and troubleshooting.
Boat Proficiency
As of 2009, all boat operators are to hold a Coast Guard Certification Card. To gain this card, we offer a one-day course that will prepare you to write the Canadian Coast Guard boat proficiency exam. There will be plenty of demonstrations of equipment and safety aides as well as covering other topics such as navigational aids, anchoring basics, rules of the road, trailering, licensing , weather, winter maintenance, collision regulations, power and sail regulations and mandatory equipment.
